Where can I find a lost car part?

I have a 2001 Ford Escort and I was changing the headlight

the other day anddropped and lost a part. Its a little black ring

that you put the light through and it locks it to the light fixture thing. I have the dust cover behind it so it is holding it in there right now but I was wondering if anyone knew if the chain parts stores would carry anything like that? Is it something I can go grab someplace or something I would have to find a place to order it?

ThanksWhere can I find a lost car part?

The chain auto parts stores probably won't have an obscure part like that one. But a Ford dealership parts dept would get it easily, or a salvage yard would sell it to you, or the pair, as often they'll do.Where can I find a lost car part?

Go check in person at your local auto parts store. Walk past the pimply-faced kid, and find an old duffer who's been working there for years. If they have it, he'll know. The HELP! line of products would be the best bet. A dealership would also likely have it on hand, and the cost should be fairly minimal for a part like that. If there's a junkyard that's not too far of a drive, and they have a car like yours handy, that would work too.
