How does mass affect slding friction?

I am doing an experiment where I am sliding down a car with locked wheels down a ramp. And I want to change the mass of the car, to see how it will affect skidding. Any ideas on what will happen?How does mass affect slding friction?
mgsin(x) is the force acting down the ramp where m mass, g acc. due to gravity,x=angle of incline



(up the incline) kinetic friction= u* N where u coefficient of kinetic friction and n normal reaction with incline

net force=ma=mgsin(x) - umgcos(x) where a is acc. of car



a=gsin(x) - ugcos(x)



therefore acc. doesnot depend on mass

hence if you increase or decrease the mass acc will remain the sameHow does mass affect slding friction?
the heavier the car the faster it will stop whilst sliding down the ramp.



the weight (or downward force) is multiplied by a constant that is related to the type of surface, and used to compare to other surfaces.



right...the momentum of the car will increase as well...what I meant to say was, the heavier the car = the greater the friction force exerted on the tyres horizontal to the ramp.



so in conclusion, if the velocity remains the same in different trial runs with different mass, the momentum is higher for the heavier car and will take longer to stop despite the greater force exterted on the tyres because the weight down the ramp also increases proportionally.



may notice greater wear on the tyres with the heavier load if compared over the same sliding distance, hard to do.How does mass affect slding friction?
Friction depend on three things

1) mass : heavy object has high friction, low mass object has low friction

2) surface of the object : rough surface has high friction, smooth surface has low friction

3) surface that the object slide on : rough surface has high friction smooth surface has low frictionHow does mass affect slding friction?
inc in mass means inc in speed and decrease means decrease in speed because its sliding down due to force of ghravity
