Legal advice:Is it okay for my soon to be ex husband have the locks changed on the house we both own?

We are in the middle of going through a divorce. He has his ex-wife staying there. He had the locks changed. I can't get and half of my and our 4 year old daughter's things are still in the house. We both have a toorneys but they are closed for the weekend. I sent my husband a text saying I was on my way over to get my new key with a cop escort. He said I have no right to do that and he would call the cops too! It's still my house! Do I not have a right? My husband is getting drunk at our home and he is on probation for a dwi with our daughter in the car.Legal advice:Is it okay for my soon to be ex husband have the locks changed on the house we both own?
If you left, and he lives there, then you lost your right to come and go as you please. I would change the locks too. The better way to handle it, would be to ask him when can you come and get all of your stuff. So you won't have to talk or see him again. Then let the lawyer's do the talking for both of you.If he refuses, then you need to make a list of the stuff you want back and let your lawyer speak to the judge about those.Legal advice:Is it okay for my soon to be ex husband have the locks changed on the house we both own?
Depends on the state. In some states once a spouse leaves and the one that stayed at the house changes the locks it becomes their house unless a court rules differently.

The idea is you gave up rights to the property once you left.
