Missing car keys, changing locks?

My friend recently lost his car keys at a party, he is still waiting for them to be found, whereas i believe someones taken them and isn't goign to give them back, he has a spare key for it but he cannot use it as it sets off the alarm and cannot be used to turn it off or something.

How much is it likely to cost for a new lock, or would it jsut be a key needed?

Im not very good with these situations! and i know that my friend isn't going to bother to find out until he really has to.

So if you have any suggestions please say!Missing car keys, changing locks?
call a lock smith and ask them to make you a key be around 150 if he changes the locks ne has to change them on the doors has to change the ignition and the trunk lock as wellMissing car keys, changing locks?
Welcome to the 21st century, take the registration and valid ID to the dealer applicable to your car and have a new key cut and fob programed. if your worried about the person that you think stole the keys stealing it take the car in and have the alarm reprogrammed. lot cheaper than replacing locks.Missing car keys, changing locks?
Go to your local Dodge dealer. Bring your driver's license and vehicle registration papers. Go to the parts department. They can cut a new key that won't set off the alarm using information from the VIN on the registration papers.

There is a good chance that this key uses a chip for the alarm system. These will be much more expensive than a regular key so be prepared for some sticker shock.

The spare key does not have the required security chip. This is why the alarm goes off when it is used. This is why you need to visit the dealer.
