I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?

Can I change the locks on the car?I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Depends if his name is on the car... if not and its just you then its yours!I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
it belongs to you

you can change the locks if u wantI am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Generally, if it is in your name you own it. But in some states it is called marital property and you could get in trouble for doing that.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Since the car was purchased while you are married, it belongs to both of you. No, you cannot change the locks. If you do, you would need to give him the new key. Good luck!I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
It sounds like you have much bigger problems than the locks on your car...I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Tracey,

I'm sensing some tension between you and your husband. In marriage there is no more %26quot;mine%26quot; and %26quot;yours%26quot;, there's only %26quot;ours%26quot;. If your name is the only name on the loan, and you're paying for it out of a bank account that is only in your name, then i think it's safe to say the car is yours, and you can do with it what you please.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
If you are married...you both own it....he has the right just as much as you do.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
The car belongs 2 the person whose name is on the registration but since u both r married u both have the right 2 use it..... n only 1 saying that it is his/her's is not right .... u should learn 2 share things with yur partner.. I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
you're married right? The two you!!I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Why get married and then worry about what belongs to whom??I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
This is your car, and I am sure you did not need anyone to validate that for you. If you do not want your husband to use your car, then tell him, and if he does, tell him that you are going to call the police, and report it stolen. Yes you can change the locks, but it is expensive.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
The legal owner is the person named on the title and/or the registration as the %26quot;registered owner%26quot;.

It is probably less expensive to put a security system on it than to re-key the locks.

Whoever the two of you agree it belongs to.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
If you're married, it belongs to both of you.

I will never understand why married people insist on %26quot;I pay for this%26quot; or %26quot;this is mine.%26quot; You're married, people. Get your finances in a joint bank account and stop separating things! Marriage = everything belongs to both of you, 50/50. I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
who evers name is on the lease I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
both but the real question is why do you want to change the locks? I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
The car belongs to the person who's name is on the car's title. If you decide to change the locks on the car make sure you have a bag packed since you may find his next set is to change the locks on the house.

You must realize that if you are at the point of changing locks your relationship is pretty much over. What is your real issue of your husband driving the car. That apparently is not the real issue here.

I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
Who's name is on the loan for the car or on the title for the car?

The answer to my question is the answer to yours.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
It belongs to both of you. You can change the locks but he still has rights to the car so don't waste your time and money. He might just change the locks on your house - you will eventually get in but you will be inconvenienced and angry which will put more negativity in the marriage you have left.I am married and have purchased a car and paying for it. My husband drives it as well, who does the car belong?
