what tools do i need? how do i disable the airbag, and do you have any other suggestions?I have a 95 chevy lumina car, I am changing the lock-ignition(part with the keys)?
remove the negative post on the battery before disconecting the air bag you can do the job with out doing this but if you accedently turn the ignition switch on while it is disconected it will set the abs light on and you may need a computer to get it back off

there is 2 typs of switched one you need to pull off the stering wheel the other one you dont

i think on yours you dont but you will need to turn the ignition switch to on to pull it out

and you will need to reprogram the switch after you swap it

it may be easyer for you to bring it to a locksmith and let them do it it will cost less thain your local auto repair shopI have a 95 chevy lumina car, I am changing the lock-ignition(part with the keys)?
You typically just need the key, and misc. sockets and screwdrivers (although probably some torx heads on a chevy)

Diable the airbag by disconnecting the ground cable from the battery.

On newer cars this is much easier. The plastic parts around the steering column are all that need to be removed, although you often have to take apart half of the dash to get them off.
