Car starts but shuts off only seconds later, right after ignition Key cylinder replaced. whats wrong?

I own a 1997 Chevy Cavalier and for quite sometime the ignition switch would not turn enough to crank the engine over. So I had to put it in %26quot;on%26quot; position and then start it from under the hood from the solinoid to the starter.

Its always started fine this way with a few idling problems, which its always kinda idled rough.

Today I got a new Ignition Key cylinder, (actually used and free and came from a shop, said it came from a car similar, which it was. He said it worked but the guy wanted his locks changed on his car for some odd reason) Well I replaced the old one and I turned it all the way and the car started with no issues. Until about 5 seconds later when it shut off. I tried many times to start it back up but it kept dying after 1 or 2 seconds. Sometimes if I held the ignition just before the start position it would stay running for about 5 seconds but still die, as it didn't always work.

So i took that one out and put the old one back in and did the usual routine but this time it is doing the same thing as with the new one, turning on and shutting off right away. They look like the same cylinders but the only difference is the old one had a little chip put in an open slot which is empty in the other one. The cover of the chip is broken off slightly but thats what it looked like when it came out. but even with this chip plugged in its doing it the same as the new switch starting up.

Any help will be great. Thanks in advanceCar starts but shuts off only seconds later, right after ignition Key cylinder replaced. whats wrong?
maybe sparkplug or the battery check that could be the reason
